Blackbird Titanium Base Plate

The blackbird open comb baseplate should serve as the flagship among the three choices. I have coarse hair, and this baseplate has finally let me shave daily without discomfort. The blade feel is unusual: you sense the blade clearly, yet it has not nicked me after months of use. The TI blackbird with the open comb plate has removed the appeal of collecting razors for me. No matter which razor I purchase afterward, I return to the blackbird because it’s reliably the most comfortable.

Honestly, Blackland is an incredible company, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I was helped to the absolute max. Their customer service has been phenomenal, and I couldn’t be happier with my razor. I ended up getting both the Lite Safety Bar and the Regular Safety Bar. For me personally, the Regular Safety Bar was a little too harsh on my skin, but the Lite Safety Bar has been absolutely perfect. I wouldn’t even consider myself to have particularly sensitive skin, which makes me even more impressed with how comfortable and smooth the Lite has been. Going from shaving with my Henson to the Blackland Blackbird Titanium has completely changed how I feel about shaving. I actually look forward to shaving now and find myself more motivated to shave every other day. The Blackbird gives me an incredible shave while still feeling like a premium, beautifully engineered piece. And honestly, the Blackbird Titanium looks like something Bruce Wayne would use in The Dark Knight. The design is absolutely insane. Blackland really outdid themselves with this one. I had ordered the black Ti with the standard plate, but I wanted to add the open comb as well. Very happy that I did, the OC plate seems smoother than the original and is just as effective - maybe a little more. I love the 2-tone look too.

Love my blackbird razor. The lite plate is great for shaving every day. The regular plate requires a little more attention while shaving as it is definitely more aggressive. The blackbird is my favorite razor hands down!

I love my Blackbird Ti! I find it to be extremely efficient, yet incredibly smooth and comfortable as well. It’s also very maneuverable. The workmanship is absolutely amazing. For an every day driver, the Lite base plate is perfect for a bbs shave. With 48 hours of beard growth or more, the regular plate is perfect for me - As close of a shave as you can get with no irritation! I reach for my Blackbird Ti more than any other razor in my den. Lite Ti Base Plate is amazing. It is pain proof as it just doesn’t cut even at weird angles.

I have been enjoying my Blackbird Titanium with both the closed and Lite base plates. We are still getting to know each other but I would say it lives up to its reputation.

I ordered the Blackbird Titanium with the SB Lite plate in November. Due to a mix-up, I was initially sent the SB plate instead. Shane responded quickly and immediately shipped the correct Lite plate, and he generously encouraged me to try the SB plate in the meantime to see how I liked it. Blackland covered all shipping without hesitation. As it turns out, both the SB and SB Lite plates are excellent in their own right, and I ultimately decided to keep both. I suspect Shane knew exactly what he was doing :). The shaves are exceptionally close, the build quality is superb, and the overall experience was outstanding. Customer service was prompt, professional, and genuinely helpful from start to finish. Many thanks to Shane and the Blackland team.

This plate is super efficient and a bit milder than the regular plate. But you can’t go wrong with either plate honestly.

I own or have tried most of the premium razors and if I had to choose only one, it'd be the titanium blackbird with the lite plate. It hits the sweet spot for me with blade feel and still being efficient enough to get a bbs shave. Super cool design to boot, there's nothing else on the market quite like it. I suppose I should add some comparison info for those looking... its a traditional angle shaver which is my preference, not a steep angle like a karve cb or Wolfman wr2 style razor. Blade feel and efficiency maybe a 5 out of 10. I like to feel the blade a bit so I can tell if the angle is right but not so much so that I'm forced to be too careful. I bought the Ti Blackbird with the Lite base during the amazing Black Friday sale. Because the sale and return policy are so good I took a chance and ordered the standard base. I actually shaved one half of my face with the Standard base and the other half of my face with the Lite base as a comparison. I was expecting to prefer the Lite base and found I was wrong! I found the Standard base to not only be more efficient, I found it to be smoother! I used the same blade for both sides of my face. The Lite base actually felt like there was drag as if the blade was dull. I wound up returning the Lite base for a refund. Gotta say the Blackbird and the Vector are my two favorite razors. Keep up the fantastic work Blackland and Be Well!

Purchased the ti lite plate in addition to the blackbird ti SB. This plate is great for 1-2 days growth. Still very efficient and blade feel is reduced compared to standard plate but enough to let you know you have the correct angle/pressure while feeling completely safe. I am extremely happy to have this beautiful razor with both plates!

I bought my TiBird with the open comb base plate and it's really been ideal, but figured I'd try the Safety Bar too. Fantastic addition, I tend to shave Mon - Thur and have been using the OC for Monday shaves and the SB for Tue, Wed and Thur and it's a great combo.

The perfect adjustment to an already perfect razor for when you need just a little less. Amazing for daily and head shavers!

This was the missing piece for me and the razor. Still enough space to get through a week of growth but with less aggression then the standard plate.

Amazing plate when you have a lot of beard to trim. The blackbird razor has it all, a daily shave with the lite plate, something slightly more aggressive as standard and then the open comb plate when you have to shave weekly.

Decided to get the titanium open comb since I have the lite and regular plate to complete the set. I’m not sure I will need the open comb often as I don’t grow the fastest beard. However, I was definitely impressed by the increase in efficiency from the regular plate and much more than the lite. Used in my neck and I could have stopped at one pass. Great product!

First use with the open comb plate and cut down a week worth of neck hair with no issue in one pass. Definitely is a increase in efficiency from the safety bar. Doesn’t hurt it looks awesome as well

I love blackbird. I have it in machined brass and polished stainless steel, but I wanted to buy just the titanium SB baseplate, since I have discovered that the baseplate makes the blackbird regardless of the finish. The titanium SB base plate is very smooth and just as efficient, a little less slippery than polished steel. It feels very light. When I want less weight I put a titanium handle on it and I understand the fuss about titanium. Super light, very smooth and efficient.

Bought this in addition to the Titanium Lite Base Plate which I have. The Titanium Base Plate suits me better with a more efficient shave and will be my default.

The titanium lite baseplate is a must have for a great head shave!

The Lite plate is a great way to learn the razor and give you a quick shave option for rushing before work or whenever. The standard plate offers a closer shave but also requires a bit more time to do it right (at least as I learn this razor). The Lite is a great option to have. Well done

The Open Comb baseplate is definitely more efficient than the Safety Bar version. However, unlike the Safety Bar which can be used as a daily shaver, the Open Comb is best for every 2-3 day interval shaving. It can easily mow a week’s hair growth

The Lite version of the base plate is the ideal complement to the normal one. I use it for daily shaving. Mild enough for daily use and efficient enough to deserve the name Blackbird. I am really enthusiastic!

Just got into wet shaving this year and it has become a bit of an obsession. The Blackland Blackbird was something on my list for a while and it does not disappoint! Got it in titanium it the lite configuration, but wanted the full experience so I also ordered the regular base plate. I got it in the blue anodized finished and it is beautiful. Special thanks to the folks who recognized that I inadvertently ordered the satin finish stand And emailed me so I could have them correct this to the anodized blue as well. Even as a relative novice, I would say that if I was only going to order one base plate, I probably would’ve gone with the regular. I am glad that I got both, especially considering the fact that they were on sale. With the regular base plate it is probably my most aggressive DE razor - but not irritating or overly aggressive (as attested to by the relatively silent alum block passes). I have used it several times with both plates that do find myself using the regular plate more often.

I've bought Safety Bar and Lite Titanium Blackbird plates to try on my satin brass Blackbird. Liked them enough to get an actual Blackbird Ti. Are the Ti plates better than the brass? I'd say both offer different shaving experiences. I appreciate and enjoy shaving with each.

I purchased the Blackbird Titanium Lite baseplate to compliment my Blackbird Brass. Some claimed the Blackbirds shave better with a Titanium plate. It does feel a little different. I ended up with regular and Lite Titanium baseplates and also ordered a stainless long handle and top cap. So I change the plates out between SS and Brass. Ended up buying a used Ti with both plates off auction in the end.

I’ve been wet shaving for a few years now and had never tried an open comb before, but I decided to finally give it a go…I didn’t realize what I was missing! This has completely changed the experience for me. I guess I have thicker/courser hair than I thought because the Blackbird’s efficiency + this base plate + a Feather blade has given me one of the closest and simultaneously most comfortable shaves I’ve ever experienced. I also feel like I’m able to make a greater variety of blades work well with this base plate. The open comb gives me even greater feedback and the additional blade feel makes me feel like I have so much more control, while also requiring me to do less work, which results in fewer nicks and less razor burn and a happy customer. Definitely worth it in my opinion, highly recommend!

Amazing shave experience with this one, it's so smooth I could barely feel the blade really skin friendly, though it's on the mild category, it's still efficient it gets the job done without any injuries. Between the regular, I noticed I have to do some a little bit of touching up with this one, but so does the regular anyways, this to me is a lot more safer, I could use it on the head, as my regular main driver, I could whip this all over my neck in any direction and it simply won't nick my skin it's ridiculous, after shaving, Between this and the regular one, I get just a tiny tiny tingling with my allum block Compare to the regular I get stinging but not that crazy. Finally something perfect for my skin came my way overall I will give this lite baseplate a very high remarks well done. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️!

great open comb base plate for my blackbird ti lite. I am very pleased. Shipping went quickly and smoothly.

I was able to exchange my defective SS LITE plate. It took a while to get the exchange to a Ti plate going, but once that actually occurred and the Ti plate was exchanged and shipped it happened very quickly and smoothly.

Lite plate is somewhat milder. Gives a great shave. Love my titanium blackbird!

This is my 1st titamium de razor. I've been using the razor for about a month and shaving every other day, using the mild blade gap, since I have sensitive skin. I have both blade gaps, so I could see which one is better for my use. The medium blade gap right now is to aggressive for me, but gives me a closer shave, more blade feel in which that doesn't bother me, but nicks up my face. I'm still experimenting with different blades, since not all de razor blades are the same. But overall this is a nice razor and I am happy with it.

Love the lite plate. For me, it improves the blackbird titanium into a milder more enjoyable shave. Less irritation for me. A winner.

After a week of shaving exclusively with a BB Ti and using many great soap bases (Ethos, B&M Omnibus, WK Tallow + Donkey, GD Kairos, etc..) I have an update and rating. First I should say, I have a moderate to thick beard (Italian descent) and I have mild folliculitis and psoriasis (which I haven’t had an issue with for years). In other words if I’m not careful I’m a mess for a few days. My daily shaver to compare to is a Carbon Ti - .68 original plate. The BB Ti Lite is surprisingly comfortable, capable of a complete BBS with a tiny bit of work on the jaw line, and just a pleasure. I would rate the original blackbird Ti as a 9 in efficiency and 6 in comfort and 7 in smoothness (I have several still). The Lite Ti I would rate a 9 in comfort, 9 in smoothness and a 6-7 in efficiency (depending if I feel like a jawline touch up). Where it would struggle is if I let my facial hair grow 4-5 days and tried to mow it down… that the original blackbird would be better suited for. So for shaves every 1-3 days where you value comfort, smoothness and efficiency, I think the Lite is phenomenal. It’s a different razor than the BB Ti, in a good way, but maintains much of the BB shaving characteristics. For my skin, it’s the blackbird I always needed. In fact, I may order a second Lite plate as my travel razor.

My biggest complaint is that the finish of the blackbird I got doesn’t match the finish of this piece only because I got the razor in machined finish and this comes in satin. That my biggest complaint about it is the finish should tell you how good this is.

The "Lite" Ti baseplate is a winner for me. The Lite baseplate makes mowing over scar tissue significantly easier. I find that merely tipping the razor gives me more or less blade feel & I can lower in anticipation of scar tissue.

Definitely ups the efficiency on my Ti BB but unfortunately will only get used when I have 3+ days of growth...

I purchased an open comb for my Titanium Blackbird. The Blackbird is one of two favorite razors I owned. The open comb is very smooth and easy to get a super smooth shave. I use a Feather (black) which is very sharp but smooth. The open comb is a great addition to my daily shaving regiment.
